Therapeutic Recreation Director

This is a part‑time (24 hrs/week) TRD role and not a Director level position. The TRD will work collaboratively with our full‑time Recreation Director to ensure regulatory compliance and high‑quality resident care.

What You’ll Do:
- Plan, organize, and lead recreational and therapeutic activities that support residents’ physical, cognitive, and social well-being
- Develop and maintain a monthly activity calendar with group, individual, and special event programming
- Facilitate engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities
- Coordinate seasonal celebrations, special events, and community outings
- Document resident participation and collaborate with nursing and care staff to support individualized wellness goals
- Recruit volunteers as needed and maintain safe, organized activity spaces and supplies
This role requires Connecticut‑qualified Therapeutic Recreation Director credentials. Recreation Assistants do not meet these requirements.
Candidates must meet at least one of the following CT qualifications:
- Associate’s degree with a major emphasis in therapeutic recreation, OR
- High school diploma (or equivalent) and enrollment within six months of hire in a Connecticut‑approved therapeutic recreation certificate program, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with one year of full‑time therapeutic recreation experience in a healthcare facility, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with six credits in therapeutic recreation, OR
- Associate’s degree in a related field with two years of full‑time therapeutic recreation experience, OR
- Associate’s degree in a related field with nine credits in therapeutic recreation
